About The Artist

                                    owynn Auxin Ellis (formerly CCJ Ellis) is a professional fantasy                                            illustrator and Author originally from Bangor in North Wales.                                              Their work is inspired by strong emotions, nature, fantasy,                                                      folklore and mythology and they work mainly with pen, ink and                                              watercolour and digital media. 

 

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Rowynn attended Wrexham University and achieved a Degree in Illustration and a Masters in Design Communication. Over the years they have worked with a number of clients including; Wizards Of The Coast, Saga Press, Rebellion Publishing House, Penguin Random House, Owl Crate, Astra Publishing and Harper Collins.

They have also organised and launched a number of successful Kickstarter campaigns, two of which lead to the international publication of their book 'Welsh Monsters & Mythical Beasts' which documents and depicts the creatures that feature in Welsh Folklore & 'Here be Dragons' a re-publication of Ralph Whitlock’s book which documents Dragon legends from all over the UK and surrounding isles. 


Rowynn has been a guest at a number of conventions around the UK and in 2023 they took part in the Artist Alley London MCM 2023 Panel 'Myths & Monsters Artists' and is due to take part in another panel this October along side other Trading Card Game artists. Rowynn has also appeared on the BBC 'Wales Today' Show and Welsh TV channel S4C's arts program Y Lle’

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Currently they Rowynn is working on a series of personal projects exploring and documenting creatures and associated legends from Cymru folklore. Their aim is to create resources that take you on a journey through the symbolism and history of  Wales’ most renowned folk tales, customs and mythical creatures.
